In the comic the group split up and hershel stayed on the farm along with some of his family, the prison was actual pretty far from hershel's house. This is my first season watching the series. As I sat there falling in love with the series, my daughter (who is 25, I'm...old enough to be her mother)explained what had happened the first season. I know I'm jumping ahead here, but watching the season finale, a question occured to me. After waiting for the survivors to meet up, driving on a meandering secondary highway with at least one vehicle low enough on fuel to have "been running in the red for the last hour"-Rick, (Wish my car would run in the red that long. The money I could save...) the group probably didn't get very far. My question is: Why didn't Herschel, who has evidently lived in the area forever, who as a veteranian probabley drives all over the area (He appears to have a large animal practice) say: "Hey! there's a big a-- prison just through this patch of woods! That would be the perfect place to hole up and regroup!" Just wondering... Love the series Ok. This is my first season watching the series. They have gone from 24 hour guard of their people to a kid wandering around alone - in the woods and nobody knows. I kinda wished the Zombie had gotten him. (Just kidding) Yes, the killing of the cow - impossible. Also, I think if I were Dale I would have backed up from that scene not walked into it. And please, end this obsession of Shane's for Laurie. Considering the lack of opportunities for a relationship - you have the blonde chick to keep you company. How unrealistic it is, for him to think he has a chance with her at this point.
